‘Salt fish’ remanded for murder of Corentyne labourer

A fisherman was refused bail when he appeared at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court on Friday, December 29, 2017 for the murder of a Friendship Village, Corentyne labourer.

Twenty four year old Suresh Persaud called ‘Salt fish’, also of Friendship, was not required to plea to the charge when he appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh.

The court heard that between December 23 and 24, 2017 Persaud murdered 47 year old Radesh Sukram.

Sukram was discovered in a pool of blood on his bed with his throat slit at about 07:30hrs on Saturday (December 24, 2017). The gruesome discovery was made by his 17-year-old son who resides a short distance away.

The police in ‘B’ Division subsequently managed to apprehend the suspect who reportedly admitted to the crime.

Bail was refused and the matter was transferred to the Whim Magistrate’s Court for Monday, January 08, 2018.
