Businesswoman robbed after leaving EBD bank

Fifty-three-year-old Parbati Khusial withdrew approximately $225,000 in cash from GBTI’s bank on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD) on Saturday, December 30, 2017, and then drove to a salon on Cummings and Sixth Street, Georgetown when she was accosted by bandits.

News Room understands that as the businesswoman arrived at the salon, two men on a motorcycle, one of whom was armed with a handgun, demanded that she hand over her handbag with the cash. The robbery occurred at around 11:20hrs and reports indicate that the robbery was captured on a nearby CCTV camera. Investigations are ongoing.
