Thirteen wickets fell on an eventual opening day of the eighth round clash of the Professional Cricket League/Digicel Four-day championship game between points leaders Guyana Jaguars and Jamaica Scorpions at Sabina Park on Thursday.

Inserted to take first strike, Scorpions were routed for 106 in 36.2 overs, and Jaguars closed on 75-3, still 31 runs adrift of first innings honours.

Keemo Paul took 3-15 and Raymon Reifer, playing his first game this season, bagged 3-21 as Scorpions collapsed from 58-2, losing their last eight wickets for just 48 runs.

Veerasammy Permaul took 2-25. Jermaine Blackwood and Aldaine Thomas made 24 each, the highest in the innings. Jaguars then lost debutant Akshaya Persaud leg before for a second ball duck, before opener Chandrapaul Hemraj and skipper Leon Johnson added 53.

Johnson fell for 13 and Hemraj for 47 as the defending champions slumped to 63-3. Vishaul Singh (10*) and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (3*) took Jaguars to the close.

In the other games, Barbados Pride closed on 296-9 against Windward Islands Volcanoes and Leeward Islands Hurricanes were 36-3 in response to Trinidad and Tobago Red Force 222.
