ASB Classic: Wozniacki ends Vickery’s campaign at semi-final

Number one seed Caroline Wozniacki is through to the final of the ASB Classic in New Zealand, ending USA-based Guyanese Sachia Vickery’s campaign at the semi-final stage on Saturday.

Vickery lost in straight sets 6-4 6-4, as Wozniacki set up a final clash with the number two seed Julia Goerges, who defeated Su-Wei Hsieh 6-1 6-4 in the other semi-final match. 

Vickery had a good run in the tournament, earlier defeating Agnieszka Radwanksa 6-2 6-2 at the quarter-final stage. 

Prior to that, she got past Veronica Cepede Royg 6-2 6-4 in the Round of 16 and Lauren Davis 6-1 6-2 in the Round of 32. In the Qualifiers, she defeated Magdalena Frech 7-5 6-3, Conny Perrin 6-0 6-3 and Deborah Chiesa 6-4 6-3.
