A 30-year-old Patentia, West Bank Demerara farmer was released on $150,000 bail by Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan for the offence of trafficking cocaine.

Ricardo Ramdoo appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 05 January 2018, where it is alleged that on January 3 at Patentia, West Bank Demerara, he had eight grams of cocaine in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge; his attorney Latchmie Rahmat in a bail application contended that there is a special reason for bail to be granted given the fact that multiple persons occupy the residence where the cocaine was found.

Police Prosecutor, Arwin Moore, told the court that police raided the home based on intelligence received. According to Moore, the defendant led police during the search and found the drug hidden in a handbag.

Moore objected to Ramdoo being released on bail. Bail was however granted and the case was transferred to the Wales Magistrate’s Court for January 31, 2018.
