Driver bailed for allegedly trafficking over 30 pounds ganja
An East Canje, Berbice driver has been placed on $200,000 bail by Magistrate Alex Moore for allegedly trafficking over 30 pounds of marijuana.
Sohil Nabbi of Burn Bush Dam, East Canje Berbice, appeared at the Blairmont Magistrate’s Court on Monday January 08, 2018, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that he had 13,800 grams of the illegal drug in his possession on January 06, 2018 at Weldaad Back Street, West Coast Berbice.
The court heard that on the day in question, a party of police commanded by an Assistant Superintendent, conducted a routine stop and search operation in the vicinity of the Weldaad Police Station at about 17:30 hours when they observed that a car tried to avoid the roadblock.
Ranks pursued the vehicle and caught up with Nabbi when they found the drugs taped in seventeen parcels inside the car. The case was transferred to the Weldaad Magistrate’s court for February 22, 2018.
