A Pastor, who operates a church in Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, charged with the rape of one of his female church members.
Joseph Persaud of First Street, Diamond, East Bank Demerara, appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan where the matter was heard ‘in camera.’
News Room understands that he was released on $350,000 bail and the matter was adjourned to January 18, 2018.
According to reports, during the month of October 2017, the 22-year-old victim was invited to the man’s residence at Diamond, for dinner when he allegedly committed the act.
News Room understands that Persaud and the victim allegedly shared a three-year relationship but the victim ended it after the Pastor’s wife found out but the Pastor refused to leave her.
