A 55-year-old shop owner is battling for her life at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC) after she was shot twice in the lower back during a gang-related shooting at Leopold and Breda Streets, Georgetown.

Injured is Jacqueline Lagnah, a shop owner of the same community. Two men who reportedly started shooting indiscriminately at around 11:20hrs on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, are in police custody.

They have been identified as 40-year-old Kelvin Anthony known as Reddis Pratt of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown and 47-year-old John Kerby known as Atwell Martin of South Ruimveldt.

News Room understands that there was a brawl between Anthony and someone named ‘Barney’ after ‘Barney’ allegedly robbed one of Anthony’s friends in Leopold Street.

It is alleged that Anthony and John Kerby went to Leopold in motor car, PTT 9251 and started to shoot indiscriminately during which the shop owner was shot.

News Room also understands that Barney was stabbed in his face. After the shooting, Anthony and Kerby escaped, however, they were pursued by a police patrol and the car was intercepted at Penny Lane, South Ruimveldt and they were arrested. Investigations are ongoing.
