Mocha teen arrested for stabbing student over cell phone

Police have arrested a 17-year-old, of Mocha, East Bank Demerara, who allegedly stabbed a 15-year-old student of the Mercy Wing Vacation and Day Care School, located in South Sophia, Georgetown on Monday, January 22, 2018.

News Room understands that at around 12:30hrs, the suspect, who also attends the same school, and the victim had a fight in the school’s compound over a cell phone, which the suspect accused the 15-year-old of stealing.

Information reaching the News Room revealed that the suspect allegedly stabbed the teenager once to his right side abdomen. The young man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC) by a teacher of the school and has since been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The knife and the 17-year-old remain in police custody.
