Father of 5 dies after crashing relative’s car


A 54-year old farmer met his demise on Monday afternoon after he crashed into a utility pole while driving a relative’s vehicle without permission.

Dead is Carl Richmond, a father of five, of 54 Strath Campbell Village, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

News Room understands that the elderly man, who police said was heavily intoxicated, was celebrating his wife’s birthday which was on Sunday.

Police said Richmond then jumped into the motorcar owned by a relative who was at the house at the time “resting.”

The farmer was unlicensed to drive, the police said. While in the vicinity of Chance Village, the man crashed into a utility police and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital.
