Rising Stars win two, lose one on Berbice tour

Georgetown-based side Rising Stars Cricket team won two of their three games on Sunday when they made a trip to the Ancient County of Berbice.  Rising Stars U-17 team whipped Achievers Under-17 by 127 runs and then inflicted a seven-wicket defeat on Achievers in an Under-19 contest. Both games were 15 overs per innings.

In the senior match-up played under lights, Rising Stars suffered a 37-run defeat at the hands of West Berbice. 

In the senior game, a T20 affair, West Berbice posted 177 all out with Keyron Fraser hitting 36 off 19 and Artley Bailey 28 off 20. Raj Lall was the most successful bowler with 4-15 off four overs, while Charwayne McPherson bagged 3-18 off three overs.

Rising Stars could only muster 140-9 in reply with McPherson returning to topscore with 42 off 35 balls. Fraser picked up 3-14 off three overs and Hiralall Bridgelall tok 2-23 off four.

In the Under-17 game, Rising Stars piled up an imposing 220-8 in the allotted 15 overs with left-hander Adrian Hinds smashing 111 off just 49 balls and V. Balgobin hitting 24 off 10. K. Small took 3-42 for Achievers, who responded with 93 all out with Ryan Ramlall taking 4-3 off two overs. Hinds was named Man-of-the-Match for his century. 

In the Under-19 match, Achievers were held to 99 in 15 overs with D. Joseph hitting 26. Shadrach Bacon took 3-13 for Rising Stars, who raced to 100-3 to seal the win. Mark Ramsammy led the chase with 29 off 31 balls.
