All-rounder Christopher Barnwell made a welcome return to form, stroking a belligerent hundred to power Georgetown to victory over Lower Corentyne in the semi-final of the Jaguars Franchise League 50-over competition on Tuesday.

Barnwell’s stroke-filled 101 not out, which spanned 100 balls and included nine sixes and four fours, carried Georgetown to 216 all out in 44.1 overs. Openers Robin Bacchus and Andrew Lyght Jr. made 23 and 21 respectively.

Bowling for Lower Corentyne, Royston Crandon picked up 4-47, while Nail Smith (2-51), Veerasammy Permaul (2-21) and Kassim Khan (2-38) were also among the wickets.

Paul Wintz then took 4-20 and Barnwell, Kellon Carmichael and Ramaal Lewis all took two wickets each as Lower Corentyne folded for 93 in 26 overs. Jonathon Foo topscored with 32.

Georgetown will now face Essequibo in the final on Wednesday at the National Stadium, starting at 09:30h.
