Two killed in West Side accident

An accident which occurred on Tuesday night (January 23, 2018) at Cornelia Ida on the West Coast of Demerara (WCD) has left two persons dead and two injured.

Twenty-six-year-old Romeo Henry of Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara and, 24-year-old Doesh Sukhu of La Jalousie, also of the West Coast, were pronounced dead on arrival at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.

Twenty-nine-year-old Rajendra Nandalall of Windsor Forest was treated and sent away, while the driver of the car, PSS 413, 25-year-old Mohammed Osman of Pakistan street, La Jalousie remains hospitalized at the Woodlands Hospital, under police guard.

Police said Osman was heavily intoxicated and was speeding at the time of the accident, which occurred just before midnight. A police report noted that he lost control of the car while negotiating a right turn at about 23:35hrs.

News Room understands that the car collided with a fence and a lamp post before crashing inside in a yard where it stopped as a result of the impact.
