Cop chopped, suspect shot in Herstelling

A 33-year-old man 162 Herstelling ,East Bank Demerara (EBD) who wounded a policeman, was shot twice at around 02:30hrs on Friday, January 26, 2018.

According to a police release, the cop and the suspect are both hospitalized and are in a stable condition.

An investigation has so far revealed that a police patrol responded to a report of the suspect beating his 60-year-old mother. When confronted, the suspect armed himself with a cutlass and menacingly attacked and dealt the rank two chops on his left hand and left knee.

Police said that the injured constable instinctively drew his service revolver and discharged two rounds which struck his attacker in the right arm and right collarbone. Investigations are ongoing.
