Body of Venezuelan found
The body of a 27-year-old Venezuelan on Sunday (January 28, 2018) surfaced in the Wenamu River which separates Guyana and Venezuela, two days after he disappeared under water during his bid to cross the border.
He was identified as Chavo Daniel Diaz, of El Tigre, Maturin, Venezuela.
News Room was told that officers at the Kaikan Police Station in Region Seven received a report from another Venezuelan, 31-year-old Angel Ramon on Friday (January 26, 2018) that Diaz was trying to cross the river when he went under.
The man’s body was spotted by Guyanese police at about 14:00hrs on Sunday and handed over to the Venezuelan soldiers at the border.
