Police are hunting for a man who fled the scene shortly after shooting two men known to him, at about 21:40hrs on Saturday, January 27, 2018.

According to a statement from the police force, the victims; Marlon Browne, a 33-year-old farmer of Helena, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara (ECD) and a 23-year-old of Belmont, Mahaica, ECD, were at a shop at the Mahaica Market Square when they were approached by the suspect and an argument ensued.

It was disclosed that the suspect, known as Andrew, left in a minibus he was driving and returned shortly after with a handgun.

It is alleged that he immediately began shooting at the victims who at time were playing dominoes after which he fled the scene.

Browne received a gunshot wound to his left side chest and Gordon received two gunshot wounds, one to his left side ribs and one to his left forearm. The men were taken to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital where they are said to be in a stable condition.

Investigators have retrieved five .357magnum spent shells at the scene.
