Masters Academy looked like one of the contenders for this year’s Milo School Football Tournament, albeit just one game into their campaign as they disposed of Queenstown Secondary 10-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Ministry of Education ground.

Calvin Peters was a man on a mission, desecrating the defence of Queenstown to register six goals, scoring in the fourth, eighth, 26th, 29th, 34th and 69th minutes.

Tyrone Khan added to the misery of the Queenstown players with a double in the 16th and 44th minutes, while Merriheo Eastman and Isaiah Anderson scored solo efforts in the 15th and 69th minutes respectively as Masters complete the second largest victory of the tournament only two days into the championship.

Defending champions Chase Academy registered a 12-0 margin against Carmel Secondary on Saturday. Meanwhile, last year’s semi-finalists Sir Leon Lessons topped debuting team Uitvlugt 3-0 to register their first win of the tournament.

Julian Bamfield drew first blood early with a finesse shot in the fourth minute of the match, while Zian Gray added to the lead in the 30th minute of the match. After the halfway point, Shamar Carrington would bury a penalty in the 63rd minute to seal the deal for the learning institution.

The first draw of the tournament came between Charlestown Secondary and South Ruimveldt with the match ending 2-2. It was one exciting first half with all goals coming in the first 45 minutes of the match.

Raymond Bandhu opened Charlestown’s account in the eighth minute, while Robert Downes added to the lead in the 21st minute to make the game 2-0.

However, Negal McBean dropped the first goal for South Ruimveldt in the 25th minute and Jamal Nedd equalised in the 41st minute. In the second half, while both teams had a few chances, fitness seemed to be the biggest issue for both sides in an effort to secure a winner.
