West Side Guinness opens with tough match-ups

The West Coast/East Bank Guinness Greatest of the Streets small goal football opened with teams showcasing grit in tough matches on Friday evening at the Pouderoyen Tarmac. Defending champions Showstoppers got off to positive start albeit having to put in the hard work for a 1-0 win over Admiral United.

Overall, the game was even but both squads found it tough scoring against each other. However, Stephon Jupiter scored in the 12th minute to pull off the win.

The highest scoring game of the night came between Mocha and Agricola with the former winning 2-1. Domini Garnett scored in the fifth minute to give Agricola the lead, but Amos Ramsey scored in the 18th minute which was a Guinness Goal to give Mocha the win.

Guinness goals are goals that are scored in the last three minutes of the match and count as two goals. West Ballers topped Jetty Ballers 1-0 in another tough game with Quessey Alleyne scoring the winner in the 14th minute.

Meanwhile, the Dream Team topped Front Line Ballers 1-0 in another close game. Kester Alleyne scored early in the second minute, but the game ended with both teams struggling to score after.

Rising Stars also pulled off a 1-0 win against Zeelugt Warriors with Darrell Abrams scoring in the 11th minute.

In other results, Boom Bang topped 3-2 on penalties after a nil-all draw with Young Ballers, Asylum Youths topped Ballers Empire 1-0 on penalties after a nil-all draw, Nismes Ballers also won 1-0 on penalties after a nil-all draw with Bagotsville All Stars, Veterans won 1-0 on penalties after a nil-all draw with Zeelugt FC, Harmony Ballers-A defeated Facebook Ballers 1-0 on penalties after another nil-all draw, Police-B topped ESPN 1-nil and Up Like 7 topped Patentia Money team 1-0 to close out the night. 

Action is set to continue on Wednesday at the Pouderoyen Tarmac.
