Bandits pose as passengers, hijack taxi driver’s car


Two armed bandits on Monday evening (January 29, 2018) hijacked a Toyota Premio motorcar belonging to a 48-year-old taxi driver of Zeelugt New Scheme, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).

News Room understands that around 21:20hrs, the perpetrators approached a taxi base which is located on the Zeelugt Public Road and hired the man to go to the New Scheme.

While in the Scheme, one of the suspects, who was seated in the back, placed a gun to the taxi driver’s head and ordered him to exit the car.

The driver complied and the men made their good escape in the stolen car which had the registration number PSS 9929. Investigations are ongoing.
