Corentyne housewife found with bulletproof vest, fake US $
Ranks from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) have arrested a woman in connection with the discovery of a quantity of counterfeit US currency and a bulletproof vest in her home on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.
News Room understands that at about 01:30hrs, CANU acted on information received and went to the home of 38-year-old Reshma Muniram of lot 1805 Grant Crabwood Creek, Corentyne where a search was conducted and the items were found.
A police source told the News Room that CANU found a white bulletproof vest, twenty-five US $100 bill and one US $50 bill, suspected to be counterfeit, in the closet of the house.
According to information received, a further search was conducted by another officer in the ceiling of the building where an additional two sets of US $100 were found.
The woman was arrested and taken to the Springlands Police Station where the counterfeit monies and bulletproof vest were. She remains in custody as investigations continue.
