Six gunmen assault, rob Chinese business owners

A Chinese couple was on Monday evening (January 29, 2018) attacked and robbed by six gunmen who stormed their home and business premises at Garden of Eden, East Bank of Demerara (EBD).

Rong Jie King, 40, and his wife Rong Yan Yao, 41, were beaten to their heads with guns as the bandits raided their home, eventually making their good escape in the couple’s pickup truck.

News Room understands that the couple was robbed of a quantity of jewellery, an undisclosed amount of cash, electronics, a quantity of fish glue and a blue Toyota pickup truck bearing registration number BSS 5412.

Reports reaching News Room indicate that the couple was inside their house when the perpetrators entered through an opened door and held them at gunpoint.

Police sources revealed that the men then began to beat the couple, causing them to suffer minor injuries.

When the police arrived, the couple was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre for medical attention; they were treated and sent away.  Investigations are ongoing.
