Elderly Friendship businessman robbed

Police are on the hunt for two men who robbed and assaulted a 60-year-old businessman at Friendship, East Bank Demerara at around noon Friday.

The police said they are making diligent efforts to quickly apprehend the suspects.

It was reported that at about 11:20hrs, the businessman was in his shop when the suspects approached and ordered two beverages.

“Soon after they both pulled out handguns and forcefully entered the secured area of the shop, assaulted and relieved the sexagenarian of a sum of cash and jewellery,” police stated.

After carrying out the daring daylight robbery, police said the men fled the scene in a waiting silver Toyota Blue Bird motor car.
