50-Y-O pedestrian killed in Bath accident

A 53-year-old driver, who claimed his vision was ‘blinded by headlights’ was arrested for the death of a 50-year-old man who was struck down on the Bath Public Road, West Coast Berbice (WCB).

Dead is Vishnu Deonarine of Plantation Hope, WCB. The accident occurred around 21:10hrs on Friday, February 2, 2018.

News Room understands that the driver of motorcar, PSS 918 was proceeding east along the northern side of the roadway at a fast rate of speed when he was blinded by the headlights of a vehicle that was proceeding in the opposite direction.

As a result, the driver struck down Deonarine who was walking on the road at the time.

The pedestrian received injuries about this body; he was taken in an unconscious state to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver was arrested and is in custody at the Fort Wellington Police Station.
