7 students robbed by gunmen

Seven students of the South Ruimveldt Secondary School were on Friday (February 2, 2018) robbed by gunmen in broad daylight.

The victims are Latiefha Denny, Tishana Glasgow, Deandrea Williams, Christopher Dundas, Shania Chester, all aged 16 and Tenesha Abel and Daniel McBean, both aged 15.

They were collectively robbed of over $100,000 worth in valuables including their mobile phones, Nintendo Games and cash.

News Room understands that around 12:15hrs, the students left school to go to a nearby shop to purchase snacks when the two suspects approached on separate bicycles.

Reports are that the gunmen went into the shop and held the students at gunpoint and demanded  that they hand over their valuables.

The men then made their good escape.

The matter was reported to the police and an investigation has been launched.
