Ann’s Grove Secondary School played a good game to top former runner-up of the Milo School Football Tournament, Dolphin Secondary, on Saturday afternoon at the Ministry of Education ground. The game ended with Ann’s Grove registering an easy 4-0 win to grab their first three points of the championship.

It was an unsteady start with both teams trying to find some rhythm during a wayward first half that had both teams making awkward passes.

Nevertheless, Kenaz DeCamb grabbed a goal just on the stroke of halftime to give Ann’s Grove a 1-0 advantage heading into the halftime break. The late first half goal was definitely a booster for the Ann’s Grove players as Romario London released a well-timed strike to rock the net in the 52nd minute to give his side a 2-0 lead.

Four minutes later, Ingram Rahaman added to the lead with a nice assist from his teammates as the game started to run away from Dolphin Secondary, once a powerhouse in the tournament.

With Ann’s Grove finding their form, Carlos Cole put the nail in the coffin of Dolphin Secondary with yet another goal in the 67th minute as the second half for Ann’s Grove was a definite improvement compared to their first half glitches.

Meanwhile, Bishops’ High School and Pure Masters played to the second draw of the tournament so far with a nil-all finish.

Bishops’ had a number of chances to put away the game especially in the closing minutes, but failed to capitalise on their chances in the game, while Pure Masters made a number of mistakes in mid-field.

The final game of the day was an easy walk-over win for former champs Lodge Secondary against Queen’s College.

Action in the tournament will continue on today (February 4) at the Ministry of Education ground with top football side Christianburg Wismar debuting, while last year’s finalist Morgan Learning Centre will also open their campaign in the hope of going one step further than their finish in the 2017 edition of the tournament. Action is set to kick-off at 11:00h.
