A senior manager at the Guyana Telephone Telegraph Company (GTT) was on Saturday evening (February 03, 2018) robbed by a lone gunman as he was walking into his yard following a trip to the bank.
Roderick Dyer, 43, was robbed over $30,000 in cash and a quantity of valuables totaling $210,000.
News Room understands that Dyer drove to Scotia Bank on Robb Street and withdrew a sum of cash and later proceeded to his Bent Street, Werk-en-Rust home at around 20:30hrs.
As he was about to enter his yard, the perpetrator pounced from behind, grabbed onto his neck, poked him with the firearm and relieved him of his valuables.
The bandit then made his good escape by foot. An investigation has been launched.
