A 24-year-old Excavator Operator was remanded to prison on Monday, February 5, 2018, by Magistrate Judy Latchman on two firearm related charges.

Steve Armstrong, of Nutmeg Street North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court where he denied that on February 02, 2018, at Lombard Street he had a .32 Taurus pistol in his possession when he is not a licensed firearm holder.

He further denied that on the same day, he had 9 live .32 ammunition in his possession.

According to a police report, on the day in question police on mobile patrol responded to a report that a male was seen with a gun in a minibus that was bound for Georgetown.

The minibus was intercepted in the vicinity of Laparkan Shipping, Lombard Street and Armstrong instantly exited the vehicle and attempted to flee the police officers.

He was apprehended, searched by the police and the gun was found in his crotch.

The unrepresented man told the court that he is currently on bail at the Providence Magistrate’s Court for an armed robbery offence.

Police Prosecutor Arwin Moore objected to Armstrong being granted bail based on the seriousness of the charge. He was remanded until February 26, 2018.
