An 18-year-old Durban Street, Georgetown resident was remanded to prison on Monday, February 5, 2018, by Magistrate Judy Latchman for allegedly stealing his father’s firearm.

It is alleged that Chris Pollard on January 28, 2018, at David Street, Kitty stole a .32 pistol valued $250,000 along with 10 rounds of matching ammunition worth $2,600 property of Peter Pollard.

The unrepresented teen pleaded not guilty to the charge. Police Prosecutor, Inspector Arwin Moore told the court that the defendant is the adopted son of the Virtual Complainant (VC).

Moore noted that on the day in question, the VC left his firearm in his bedroom under the pillow and upon his return, discovered it missing. The man then questioned his son who confessed to stealing the firearm and selling it.

The prosecutor objected to the teen being released on bail based on the seriousness of the charge and that he is a repeat offender. As such, he was remanded until February 26, 2018.
