Sanjay’s Valentine’s golf tournament set for Saturday

Local golfers will be on show this Saturday (February 10) when Sanjay’s Jewellery stages its annual Valentine’s golf tournament at the Lusignan Golf Course, East Coast Demerara.

Managing Director of Sanjay’s Jewellery, Sanjay Persaud, on Thursday presented his company’s sponsorship to president of the Lusignan Golf Club, Aleem Hussain, at the Sheriff Street business location.

The tournament will tee off at 12:30h, with top local players set to do battle for top honours. President Hussain said the club is enthused to have Sanjay’s Jewellery onboard, which represents the continuation of a long-standing partnership.

The alliance, which spans over a decade, has been a fruitful one, Hussain pointed out. He lauded Persaud for his continued investment in the game, noting that the proprietor has committed to sponsor another tournament in October to mark his (Persaud’s) birth anniversary. 

Persaud said he is an avid admirer and follower of the game, thus his allegiance to the Golf Club.

The Sanjay’s Jewellery Golf Classic will offer prizes to the top four golfers, nearest to the pin, longest drive and for the first time ever, anyone who makes a Hole-in-One will win $100,000 for a charitable cause.
