Demerara and Berbice to clash in Under-15 final

Reigning champions Berbice will put their title on the line on Saturday when they face Demerara in the final of the Guyana Cricket Board/Dave West Indian Imports Under-15 Inter-county competition at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, Bourda.

In the third and final preliminary round games on Thursday, Berbice and Demerara emerged victorious. At Everest, Berbice comfortably defeated Essequibo by 62 runs.

Berbice made 111-8 in 36 overs in a match constantly interrupted by rain. Zeynul Ramsammy topscored with 36 and Jonathon Rampersaud chipped in with 16.

Essequibo’s batsmen failed to really challenge the target, folding for 49 although they did manage to consume as many as 28.5 overs. 

Mahendra Basdeo made 14, as Rampersaud returned to claim 4-13 and was named Man-of-the-Match. Boodram Lakeraj (2-9) and Latchman Dhanna (2-8) were also among the wickets. 

Over at Lusignan, Demerara defeated President’s XI by four wickets under the Duckworth/Lewis/Stern method. The final on Saturday will bowl off at 09:00h.
