Police have set up roadblocks in search of two men who shot and robbed 50-year-old Eddie Brandon of $7M in cash at around midday on Friday, February 9, 2018.

News Room understands that the gunmen fired four shots, one of which struck the Fisherman in his left leg.

According to reports reaching this online news entity, Brandon of Cove and John, East Coast Demerara and his 17-year-old daughter withdrew the cash from a Republic Bank outlet on the East Coast and joined a minibus to head home.

While walking on the access road leading to his house, a silver grey 212 car [number not known] drove up alongside them and two males, one armed with a gun, approached Brandon and demanded the bag with cash.

News Room understands that the Fisherman refused and one of the suspects discharged several rounds in his direction, one of which struck him in the upper left leg.

The man held on to the bag and was lashed to the head with the gun. He was then relieved of the bag containing the cash. The suspects rejoined the car which sped away heading west.

Brandon was rushed to the Nabaclis Health Centre, where he was treated and referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Police recovered three .32 spent shells at the scene.
