Major dent made in car-jacking ring; ex-cop, females arrested

Police in ‘A’ Division under the stewardship of Commander Marlon Chapman, have made a significant dent in the car-jacking ring which has plagued Guyana since last year.

Police ranks acted on information received and went to a property located at Monument Hill, Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke/Linden Highway and conducted a search during which a quantity of vehicle parts and several vehicles suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained were found.

A police statement noted that they have since been lodged at the Timehri Police Station.

Five persons, including an ex-policeman and four females, have been taken into custody and are assisting with the investigation.

Meanwhile, ranks of the Force’s Major Crimes Unit on Friday night also arrested a couple at their Vryheid’s Lust North, East Coast Demerara home after a quantity of Allion, Premio and Spacio parts with engraved numbers, was found on their premises. Investigations are in progress.
