Pensioner tied up; robbed of car, cash & valuables after leaving bank


Police are on the hunt for two men who attacked 78-year-old Hardial Doss at his Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara (EBD) home on Friday, February 09, 2018, moments after he left Demerara Bank at Diamond, EBD.

News Room understands that Doss had just arrived home at around 8pm, and exited his vehicle when the masked men held him at gunpoint. They took him inside the house, tied him up with his belt and then ransacked the home.

The bandits took a quantity of grocery, liquor, two blue suitcases with the victim’s passport, a flat screen 42-inch TV and $70,000 cash which he earlier withdrew from the bank. They then escaped with his Silver Grey CRV, PSS 1375.

The victim managed to untie himself and contacted the police, who later found the vehicle abandoned at the Soesdyke, EBD junction.
