Gold Smith robbed at gunpoint at Parika Market
Police are on the hunt for two men who robbed 43-year-old Reezal Reektan of $400,000 in cash and a large quantity of gold and silver jewelry at the Hydronie/Parika Market, East Bank Essequibo on Sunday, February 11, 2018.
News Room was informed that the robbery occurred at around 11:30hrs and the bandits discharged a round in the air as they escaped.
According to reports, the Gold Smith of Stewartville, West Coast Demerara, is a vendor at the market; he was approached by the suspects, who enquired about a ring and while in conversation, one of them held onto Reektan’s T-Shirt and pointed a gun at him.
News Room understands that the other suspect emptied the glass case with the jewelry and took the cash in the man’s possession.
No one has been arrested and investigations are ongoing.
