With over 900 customers using its online shopping service, the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) plans to establish shopping centres across the country as it aims to become the leading online shopping facility in Guyana.

Last year, the Post Office Corporation launched its online shopping service which basically gave users an address in Miami, USA, so they can order their products online with their own credit/debit cards.

GPOC’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Telesha Whyte told a news conference on Monday, February 12, 2018, that the online shopping centres, however, will give customers the option of having the Post Office place the orders on their behalf.

“There are a lot of customers out there who want us to shop for them, they do not want to risk going online so we intend to establish these centres,” she explained.

Whyte noted that within the space of one year, revenues earned through its online shopping facility accounted to 40% of the overall earnings of the GPOC which represents millions.

The PRO noted that the service is being operated on the pillars of affordability and flexibility and she encouraged persons to sign up.

She said interested persons can email the GPOC at ecommerce@guypost.gy, contact them on Facebook or 226-3127 or give their nearest post office a visit.

“All we would require is your name, your home address, your telephone number and your email address,” she stated.

Registration and access to the mailing address in Miami, USA is free.

GPOC’s Online Mailbox and Delivery service is called Swift Online Shopping and it is being executed in partnership with US Company PAKYA from Miami.
