Teen busted with cocaine at CJIA
A 19-year-old female was caught at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport with 2.6kg of cocaine in her handbag.
According to a statement from the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU), the teenager was scheduled to travel to the USA.
The young adult, who lives on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD), was accompanied to the airport by her mother and other family members.
Three persons including the young woman and her mother are currently in custody assisting with the investigation, CANU said.
The country’s narco fighting agency is advising persons that irrespective of life’s challenges, they must recognize that the narcotic trade must never be an option.
“The narcotics trade is harmful to the traffickers, it’s users and everyone connected to them,” CANU stated.
