Mon Repos businessman robbed

A 48-year-old businessman of Railway line Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was on Friday robbed of a quantity of cash and his iPhone.

News Room understands that Ramsundar Persaud operates a general store at his residence and at about 15:15hrs on Friday, two men entered the store and enquired about a gas stove.

It was noted that Persaud took the men to show them the gas stove at the back of the store when one of the suspects pulled out a firearm and held him at gunpoint.

The suspect then proceeded to relieve him of $14,000 and an iPhone which he had in his possession.

News Room was told that the other male held the victim’s wife at gunpoint but was unable to get anything from her.

The men then took the man and his wife into the house which they ransacked but left shortly after not finding anything of value.
