Joint Services rank, accomplice arrested for robbing Chief Prison Officer

A 43 year-old Chief Prison Officer was robbed of a cellphone and $40,000 at about 01:00h on Saturday morning.

According to a police report, the man was standing on the Soesdyke Public Road, East Bank Demerara awaiting transportation to his High Park,Timehri residence when he was approached by four males, one of whom was armed with a knife.

Police said a Corporal of the Joint Services and another male  have been taken into custody following an investigation.

It was noted that one of the suspects in custody reportedly returned the victim‘s property.
Investigations are ongoing.
