Police have arrested one of two suspects, who allegedly robbed a taxi driver on Saturday afternoon.
A police investigation revealed that the taxi driver was plying his normal route from Rosignol to Ithaca on the West Bank of Berbice (WBB) when he was stopped by the suspects on the Ithaca Public Road.
The men asked to be taken to Rosignol and it is alleged that shortly after driving off, one of the suspects asked to exit the vehicle as he had forgotten his phone.
The police said as soon as the victim stopped the vehicle, one of the suspects placed a gun his head and they relieved him of his cellphone, a gold ring and his wallet with $12,000.
The incident occurred at about 19:40hrs.
However, on Sunday morning, investigators acting on information received, went to Number Four Settlement, WBB and arrested one of the suspects who was positively identified by the victim.
The other suspect is being sought.
