Police are hunting for three men who robbed two families at Enmore on the East Coast of Demerara this morning.

In a statement, the police said Chatterpaul Persaud and his wife were confronted by three masked men at about 02:00hrs.

The men relieved them of a quantity of gold jewellery and a sum of cash but also dealt several lashes to Persaud’s head and bound the couple’s hands during the robbery.

It was found that the men gained entry into their one flat home via a southern door.

Police said the suspects then proceeded to the home of Persaud’s parents which is located adjacent to his home. There, the men allegedly relieved Persaud’s 51 year-old mother of cash and jewellery.

Her husband, who was sleeping in another room, was not disturbed.

Chatterpaul Persaud received treatment at the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital and was sent away.

An investigation is ongoing.
