Contractor shot, robbed at Foulis

An electrical contractor of Enmore/Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) is in a stable condition at a city hospital after he was shot and robbed of some $600,000 on Wednesday at Foulis, ECD.

News Room understands that 38-year-old Terry Chand had earlier cashed a cheque at Republic Bank at Triumph, ECD and proceeded to his worksite located at Foulis, on his motorcycle, where he was approached by two males on a motorcycle with no registration plates.

A police report noted that the rider, armed with a firearm, dismounted, snatched a bag containing the cash and discharged a round at the victim which grazed the back of his head; the suspect then rejoined his accomplice and they escaped in a western direction.

Investigators have retrieved a spent shell at the scene. No arrests have been made.
