ERC, TSC, and Integrity Commission members sworn in
President David Granger on Thursday appointed members of the Teaching Services Commission (TSC) and the Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) during a simple swearing ceremony at State House.
The TSC commissioners are Marcel Hutson, Barbara Patricia Thomas-Holder, Deborah Thomas, Amjad Shaw, Allan Ewart Munroe and Avril Crawford.
The ERC commissioners are Norris Witter, Neaz Subhan, John Smith, Rajkumarie Singh, Ashton Simon, Deodat Persaud, Norman McLean, Roshan Khan, Ruth Howard, and Barrington Braithwaite.
President Granger, in brief remarks at the simple swearing-in ceremony at State House, explained that the service commissions insulate citizens against inference and interference by the executive.
The TSC is mandated to appoint, exercise disciplinary actions and remove teachers of non-board schools while the ERC is responsible for representing persons who believe they were discriminated against based on their ethnicity.
Meanwhile, in a separate ceremony held at the Ministry of the Presidency, members of the Integrity Commission were sworn in by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the presence of the Minister of State, Joseph Harmon.
The Chairman of the Commission is Kumar Doraisami and the other members, Rabindranauth Persaud and Rosemarie Noble.
Harmon, in brief remarks, explained that there is a fourth commissioner who will be sworn in at a later date.
