Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha’s Phagwah Mela set for Feb. 24

The Dharmic Kendra in Prashad Nagar, Georgetown will come alive on Saturday, 24th February with “Rang Rasiya”, the Dharmic Sabha’s annual Phagwah Mela.

An annual prelude to Holi, the festival of spring, the Dharmic Sabha’s event features some of Guyana’s finest artistes on stage; notably Mona Gowkaran, Ganindra, Shivanad Singh and Vidya Ram of Emerging Voices, Varun Samlall, Celia Samaroo and Avinash Roopchan of the Shakti Strings Band.

The much acclaimed Dharmic Nritya Sangh of the popular show Naya Zamana will be performing vibrant and beautiful dances against a resplendent backdrop of colours. Drama will also be a highlight of the evening under the baton of Travez Piaralall.

Children and adults alike can enjoy a delicious feast of sweet, savories, Indian curries and more. Savour hot pholouri, baiganie, samosas and potato balls from the karahi to your plate. Get face painting and mehendi done in no time and buy your vivid Holi colours; all at the Phagwah Mela.

Gates open at 4:00pm. Tickets are available at the gates for $800 and children under 10 years are free. No alcohol is allowed.
