Cutlass wielding Baramita man shot twice by cop
A Baramita, North West District resident, who police say is wanted for several offences committed against residents, is presently hospitalized in a stable condition after being shot twice in his right foot by a policeman who was armed with a service weapon.
A police report noted that the incident occurred about 17:00hrs on Monday at Williams Area, Baramita, NWD when two police ranks were in the process of arresting him.
An investigation has revealed that the suspect was approached by the two armed police constables and he assaulted and then attempted to chop one of the ranks when he was shot once in the right foot.
It is further alleged that the suspect, after being shot, charged menacingly with cutlass towards the rank who shot him and the said rank instinctively discharged another round which struck the suspect again on the right foot.
The suspect was quickly disarmed and rushed to the Baramita Health Centre where he was treated and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
