The Open tournament will be held on Saturday from noon and a large field of golfers is expected to vie for top honours.

“Most importantly, our country is having a change where those people for golf or like the corporate membership, like oil and gas, the ambassadors, business community, doctors, lawyers they all want to play golf for relaxation. So we want Guyana to be one of the countries that one day people would come down here to play top class golf, and maybe years to come, because of oil, they’ll have their tournament down here,” Kissoon explained.
Hussain, in accepting the sponsorship, expressed gratitude to Kissoon’s Furniture Store for its unwavering support of the sport.
“On Saturday it will be a Medal Play competition and they’re going to be prizes one through four and Kissoon’s is also giving special gift certificates to all the winners so they can come in and pick out any of these find selection of furniture here,” Hussain said.
He added, “It’s going to be a great tournament, it’s the million dollars shoot out for Kissoon’s. It’s the biggest tournament we’re going to have so far this year and Mr. Kissoon has been very gracious in ensuring we get off to a great start for the 2018 season.”
Meanwhile, Hussain added that all the leading local players will be on show this weekend. He also envisaged with the level of competitiveness among players so far this season, the Guyana Open later this year will be hotly contested.
