A 39-year-old former John Fernandes Limited (JFL) cashier was on Thursday charged with embezzling $2.6M from the company.

Glenroy Joyce of Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo, appeared before Georgetown Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman and denied the charge.

It is alleged that during the months of July and August 2017 at Mandela Avenue, Georgetown while being employed at JFL, he fraudulently embezzled $2.6M.

His lawyer in a bail application told the court that his client had made a deal with an official from the company to repay the money, however, a representative from the company who was present in court denied the lawyer’s claims.

‎Police Prosecutor, Arwin Moore made no objection to bail. Magistrate Latchman released Joyce on $100,000 bail and adjourned the matter to April 6, 2018.
