Forty-four-year-old Gaillard Doman had just withdrawn $100,000 from the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) at Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD) and made her way to Vishnudatt’s machine shop in her motor car – PVV 5974 – to make a purchase at Garden of Eden, EBD when she and the owner of the business were attacked today.
News Room understands that the owner of the shop, Mangal Vishnudatt and the woman were conversing when a silver-grey Fielder Wagon motorcar – HC 8265- stopped in front of them.
A police report noted that two suspects exited from the front seats and held the victims at gunpoint at around 11:00hrs.
Doman was robbed of her brown shoulder bag valued at $4,000 and which contained the $100,000 cash, her GBTI bank book and national Identification card; she was also robbed of her cell phone, a 3-pennyweight gold chain and her car key.
Vishnudatt was robbed of $10,000 cash and his black Nokia cell phone. Police are reviewing surveillance footage.
