Taxi Driver robbed of over $300K at gunpoint

Police are on the hunt for a suspect, who allegedly robbed a 45-year-old Taxi Driver of $375,000 in cash in front of the Ashmin’s Store on Hadfield Street, Georgetown at about 10:00hrs today.

News Room understands that Rahim Warisali was in the process of purchasing mining parts when a man placed the gun to his left side neck and ordered him to hand over his money.

A police report noted the Taxi Driver was hesitant but the bandit searched his pockets and relieved him of the cash.

News Room understands that gunman joined a black XR motorcycle which was near the Taxi Driver’s car and escaped south along High Street. The motorcycle was being ridden by the suspect’s accomplice.

Investigations are ongoing.
