The hosting of oil and gas seminars are on the increase as the country nears the production of oil in 2020.

This week, the Private Sector Commission (PSC) and the Guyana Bar Association (GBA) will be hosting oil and gas symposiums with the aim of educating the public on various aspects of the lucrative industry.

The PSC is hosting a one-day confab on Tuesday March 6, at Duke Lodge, Kingston and the feature speaker will be Juneyt Tirmandi who has over 26 years of experience in the industry mostly as Chief Financial Officer of publicly owned oil and gas companies with international interests.

Eddie Boyer, the chairman of the organizing body, told News Room today that Tirmandi is the perfect guest speaker as the PSC wants to focus on the financial aspect of the industry.

Boyer said approximately 60 companies have confirmed attendance and though the event is tomorrow, the PSC welcomes last-minute participants.

It costs $10,000 per person, which Boyer noted is significantly less than what participants paid for the major international GIPEX Summit.

As such, Boyer advertised the Private Sector’s forum as a more affordable alternative for businesses that are also looking for ways to capitalise on the emerging sector.

Meanwhile, the Guyana Bar Association and the Judiciary Association of Guyana will be hosting a two-day oil and gas conference this weekend at the Ramada Georgetown Princess Hotel.

This event will focus on the legal aspects of the industry and will feature speakers such as the Chancellor of the Judiciary Justice Yonette Cummings-Edwards.
