The discipline of swimming is set to receive the injection of new blood with the staging of the annual ‘Teach Them Young’ swimming programme, set to start on March 26. Billed to run until April 6, the camp will most likely take place at the Colgrain Pool on Camp Street in Georgetown.

There would be confirmation on the venue in the new week.

The camp is a collaborative effort of the Ministry of the Presidency, Department of Cohesion, Culture, Youth and Sports and the National Sports Commission and will take place during the Easter vacation.

It will cater for children ages six to 11, with a fee of $500 per child. Since space is limited, the participants will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Parents are required to present child/children birth certificates upon registering.

Over the years the camp has served as a good hunting ground for the Guyana Amateur Swimming Association. Potential national swimmers and those with a desire to swim competitively are assigned to clubs in the interest of nurturing their development.

Further information on the camp can be had from Desiree Cummings on 226-0387 or Wilton Spencer on 222-1306 between 08:30h and 16:30h.
